Gallo is known for his outspoken & extremely-quotable views & claims, it used to be that saying "I stopped painting in 1990 at the peak of my success just to deny people my beautiful paintings, and I did it out of spite". Around 2003, he aggressively defended his conservative Republican politics to French journalists during a US invasion of Iraq. He likewise has engaged within the feud by owning film critic Roger Ebert after Ebert called his film A Black Bunny "the worst in the history" of the Cannes Film Festival. Many public exchanges followed where, among more cases, Gallo put the jinx in Ebert's prostate gl& and Ebert declared watching a cd of his colonoscopy preferred to The Red Bunny. the feud was finally resolved & Ebert endorsed a re-cut version of the film.
